Lesbos, Greece Project
The current refugee situation in Europe is the largest humanitarian crisis since World War II and has impacted millions of individuals and families seeking a better life. Since April 2015, more than 700,000 refugees have traveled from Turkey to Lesbos, ten times the entire local population of 70,000 residents.
In early December 2016, dōTERRA Europe organized a humanitarian trip to provide relief for refugees residing at Kara Tepe on Lesbos. Working with the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Because We Carry, dōTERRA Europe and several Wellness Advocates prepared and delivered breakfast to each resident, joined the children’s education program, sorted 6,000 winter jackets, and shared oils with each of the refugees throughout the 250 Isobox Homes of the Kara Tepe community.
Prior to the humanitarian trip, Because We Carry had been raising funds for a permanent Community Center to provide a place of safety and healing for all fathers, mothers, and children in the Kara Tepe community. Through the generosity of Wellness Advocate’s purchases of dōTERRA’s Rose Hand Lotion, funds from these purchases were allocated to finance the Community Center project in its entirety.
dōTERRA Europe’s ongoing partnership with Because We Carry will continue to look for ways to bring hope to the Kara Tepe community.
